Just leaving a review to make parents aware that the overnight camps are completely no contact. The paperwork was misleading as it mentioned a child being able to get permission to call home. This was not the case and no phone calls were permitted at all even for a very homesick child, as well as her friend who was having anxiety attacks. I would highly recommend that they update the language in the paperwork and camp info to make this policy crystal clear for parents upfront. My teen recently attended a summer camp. Very tough love/old school approach to working with kids. Sharing this so that hopefully other parents have a full picture of the camp’s policies before sending their child. My husband has run Christian camps for twenty years so we are not naive to the nuances and challenges of running a camp and supporting kids away from parents but do see that they might need to re-evaluate some of their short-sighted practices.
