Here's my advice if you're a prospective law student that's thinking about applying to UNM Law: don't bother. Your application will be tossed at the bottom of the bin no matter what your GPA and LSAT scores are, the admissions committee will not honor their own timelines to make decisions that they keep delaying, they won't respond to polite emails requesting an update, and it's almost impossible to just talk to someone over the phone. UNM School of Law offers a great legal education experience, with a graduation requirement for all law students to complete a legal clinical experience, so they have practiced law in court room, under Faculty Supervision, prior to graduating with a Juris Doctor and sitting for the Bar Exam. UNM law school is a relatively poorly ranked law school in New Mexico, ranked 94 out of 196. It is the only law school in the state. Judging by the judges in New Mexico, this school is doing a poor job of educating future judges on basics, including judicial ethics and judicial accountability. The state's highest court, the New Mexico Supreme Court, recently disbarred an attorney, Mr. Victor Marshall, after raising a valid judicial conflict in his case.
