Really happy with my visit to University of Iowa Hospitals. Everyone was kind and explained everything clearly. Short wait, clean facility, and genuinely thorough care. Would happily return and tell friends about it.
After a procedure gone wrong and nearly a dozen emails, I cannot get an answer from their Office of Patient Experience about whether or not I have the right to say no to a student's performing a procedure on me at UIHC. The closest I've gotten is "...we do not guarantee that no learners will be involved in your care." Okay...does "involved in" mean shadowing, reviewing cases? Or is it getting hands into an open cavity, or trying to perform a surgery? Do I have the right, at UIHC, to refuse any of it? UIHC Patient Experience ... read more
They waited until after my fallopian tube ruptured to preform surgery on me even though I was sent up there for emergency surgery for an ectopic (in my one fallopian tube I had left) and they waited almost 12 hours… then the minute is ruptured I was brought back to surgery. They knew that was my only tube and did absolutely nothing to save it. Then on top of that, I’m left not being able to conceive naturally and then there is absolutely no support for that or for the loss of the babies (2 ectopics 6 weeks apart). Worst expe... read more
