Not all that bad – No one wants to be contacted by a collection agency! I was contacted by Lisa Mitchell from this company as well. However, none of what is discribed below hapened. She let me vent my frustrations and then continued to explain what the situation was. I wrote a check 3 years ago and altho I did nothing to fix it on my own, I knew it would catch up with me sooner or later. When it did, the amount had tripled! Highly recommend – I've used this company for a number of years and just came across these reviews. I have only good things to say about Universal Recovery. Not only have they collected some of my past due receivables that I thought were impossible, my customer complaints have drastically gone down compared to agencies I have used in the past. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM – I have been called by Mrs. Mitchell 5 times a day for the past week from a restricted number looking for someone who has the same first name as me but not the same full name. This women says I owe over $400.00 for an order I made last year. She said I signed for a package but can not come up with any slip to prove its my signature (and what company sends anything with out payment??) I asked her to fax me the slip. Wow – Not alot I can say to all of the reviews listed here. No one except "Loser" has any clue. If you were to pay your debts before it went to a collection agency, you wouldn't have to deal with them. I use them for my business collections and yes, I get complaints about them. But the complaints stem from Universal refusing to let my "clients" off the hook for a debt they owe me. I get a kick out of it when they call me and tell me Universal was mean to them, that they wouldn't take $20.00 a month payments on a $2000 debt. ... read more

Unprofessional Company – I am an employer and today I received a call from Universal Recovery Corp. The lady calling began the call rude and it only got worse. She wouldn't give me any information as to why she wanted the number to my corporate office. If she would have done any reseach (google search etc.) she could have easily obtained what she was looking for. Upon giving her our corporate phone she called me a b#tch and hung up on me. Worst Ever – Universal Recovery Corporation is unlawful in the way they treat people on the phone; rude and harassing. They use tactics which stoop to the lowest level I have ever imagined. They go way beyond being rude. I spoke to my District Attorney's office about their practices and am in the process of filing a complaint against them. They way they conduct business is SO wrong. Who's to blame? – I had an average experience with this company. My first reaction was to hang up the phone or to verbally abuse the caller. But after pausing for a brief moment I realized their involvement was only due to my lack of responsibility. My financial problems are of my own making. This company has to deal with people like myself who are extremely selfish and self-centered and incapable of being a productive member of anything. Thank you universal helping me to be accountable. Watch for this company pursuing false claims and or the wrong person – Who regulates these guys? What are the remedies for a collector pursuing a false claim? They call, send threatening letters, but don't botter to check if they : a) got the right person; b) does their client have the right person; c) if they got their facts right; d) and if they're client even has a legitimate claim. Can these guys be sued for hounding and victimizing people over a debt that doesn't beling to the victim?
