I must admit - i though that my child was not able to play chess but this program has done wonders. I see the other reviews and i must say if that is true they have come a long way. This is my second child to have taken the program and i am very happy with the progress of both children. I know that this is a big organization with many teachers and accounts so im sure some people might have their opinion but Steve is a great guy and seems to handle business very well. My child hadnt actually tried the program but I observed a little bit of class once. The children were restless and it was hard for some to keep their attention on the subject. It is not a good fit if your child is active, but if your child can focus then this might be good for them.
The U.S. Chess Mates program is a wonderful program and I am unsure as to what the person below was referring to - as my children have been taking classes for years with them . I know every instructor and i have been very happy with the program. We have tried other local programs and they do not bring the quality and instruction like they do. This place is a joke! Take your children here at your own risk! Instructors are belittling and rude to the children, that is when they decide to pay any attention to them at all. Needless to say, my son will Not be returning!
In my experience, my child did not like the instructors and they hardly paid attention to him. I did not like the program.
Great Program - Best around the Bay Area, we had 2 other local programs that lacked in instruction and personal attention. This program has been great for our kids and our school. Thank you for the welcoming change. They provided lots of fresh instruction and weekend tournaments. Seems like child safety and classroom control were among some of the most important things they focused on. Thank you again for coming to our school and providing such a wonderful program. this is a great program! They taught my 4 year old and my 9 year old chess in two weeks. i am amazed at how fast and easy they made the game of chess. Thanks Again.
