Never using Turo on Kauai. Taxi cabs are like vultures because they know the shuttle is unreliable. Flew in at 10p and no shuttle showed. Ended up getting a cab {which charged 35 to go a mile to the lot) at 11p after waiting almost an hour.
Good shuttle but needs to run more frequently than twice an hour. I know it’s laid back Hawaii, but to be convenient for travelers it should be at least 3x and ideally 4x an hour.
Very disappointing and expensive experience with Turo in Kauai. My 74-year-old husband booked a vehicle months in advance because it had a roof rack for my surfboard. We have rented cars for over 50 years and assumed the process would be similar to traditional rental companies. What we did not realize is that Turo requires time-sensitive identity verification steps before pickup. My wife and I rented a 2023 Toyota 4Runner from Crystal Okamoto, on the island of Kauai. We rented it for 3 weeks. The entire experience was excellent. We got a great price, a very clean and roomy vehicle that was a pleasure to drive. There was a shuttle from the airport to where the car was parked, about a 5 minute drive.
