Ahhh no wonder there’s so many bad reviews for this place. We had booked a car for 3 days for Easter long weekend. We get there to pick up the car and the lady at the front desk was rude and unwelcoming. We go through the process to be told we need a physical card for the $500 deposit (after paying online for the actual car). We said we can pay the deposit with our digital card by tapping. We didn't rent a car but the ladies at réception were very helpful and pleasent whilst we were looking for a solution after our prosperine flight was cancelled
SCAMMED & Absolutely awful! I hired a vehicle on the 12th of January and paid in full on booking.com the Airlie centre took a $200 deposit once the car was returned I got the invoice saying all is good and my deposit will be refunded however one week later Thrifty took the $200 odd dollars out of my bank account I have called The help centre they have advised to email Customer Care. It seems that Thrifty defines 'similar' as a vehicle with 4 wheels and a windscreen. The attendant at the Airlie office was reasonably helpful. But, when I called the Thrifty booking agent earlier that very morning she confirmed that the location had a Toyota Corolla Cross (I needed that little extra boot room). I mentioned that need several times and it was confirmed each time that a Corolla Cross was available.
