New chef – there is a new chef here since December. the kid can bring it. we enjoyed his new year's eve menu greatly and what we saw adverstised for valentine's day sounds great. we are regulars (live just around the corner) and this place has been more packed than it used to be - the secret is out. the food here is top notch. they should call it the "food and wine shop". also love the wine (and beer) selection here. the staff is really knowledgable and always willing to make a recommendation. definitely one of my favorite p... read more
Corking Fee Policy is Tacky – I have been to The Wine Shop many times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and wine selection. Because of great experiences in the past, I was very disappointed by my most recent trip. My husband and I were looking forward to a late afternoon snack and drink. I selected a bottle of wine that was $21 only to find that The Wine Shop has a $10 corking fee.....for their own bottles!! Apparently, all bottles under $30 (bought in-store) come with a $10 corking fee. This "nickel-and-diming" policy ... read more
Business response:
Nicole, Sorry you found our corkage feel 'tacky" but as a retail store that also operates as a food and wine establishment we two sets of operating costs. The restaurant costs are much higher than our retail and as such we need to meet basic costs involved to operate. Wines priced below $30.00 (the starting point for most restaurants) don't meet these. The wine bars that haven't understood this are no longer in operation... Conrad Hunter, owner The Wine Shop at Foxcroft

Great new Chef – I met their new Chef, Andrew, at the Charlotte Farmers' Market on Yorkmont last Saturday, and decided to bring my husband by since we live in the South Park area. We had tried the place before when Noble's was doing the food and weren't overly impressed, but after talking with Andrew about the changes, we decided to give it another shot. Boy, were we glad we did. The new sandwich menu looks great; we tried the California Club, and it was incredible. The frisee salad was very good as well. Our server was very... read more
My little secret – The Wine Shop @ Foxcroft has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. My husband and I started going there occasionally on Friday and Saturday nights and liked it but recently we ate there and the menu had changed and they had a new (cute) chef in the kitchen. We were amazed with the food. My husband's Cuban sandwich was the best sandwich he said he had ever eaten and everything I had was great, especially dessert. Our bartender's knowledge of the wine was also very helpful, but not pretentious (sp... read more
One of those great hidden treasures – I was told about this place a few months ago. I was in the area on business so I stopped by. This is one of those places I'll put on my list to visit ANY time I come to town. I'm VERY picky when it comes to wine. Conrad, the shop owner, really took his time to make me feel comfortable and informed as to some great options. His experience and confidence really makes this a unique place to get a bottle or a glass of wine, have a bite and just...relax. I appreciate and will always go out of... read more
