Standard Market is a great place to visit if you are prepared to spend a little more for quality food products. The in- store bakery has a selection of tempting hot and cold Ute's on offer, including gluten free options. They also sell beautifully crafted 2-4 person celebration cakes if you need a hostess gift, or don't have time, or the skills to bake at home. They also sell fresh produce, have a meat cabinet and a wide selection of other food products.
Today, I visited The Standard Company on James Street and was left thoroughly disappointed by the level of customer service I received. I asked a simple question: whether The Standard Company in Newstead at Gas Works was open today. The gentleman I dealt with confirmed it was. When I followed up by asking what time they close, he responded with a blunt "no" with no offer to find out, no apology, nothing. This is not acceptable.
