My family searched for the best facility for our sweet Grandmother to go as she has sundowners (alzheimer's) and needed someone with her during the times she was confused. The Oaks Cottage had great reviews and seemed to be a wonderful facility without many residents. We moved her there and within the first week she was so sedated that when we would visit she wasn't with it anymore and most of the time sleeping. Our family had an unpleasant experience with this Assisted Living facility. Are beloved mother went from being able to walk around using a walker to unable to get out of bed in a matter of 6 weeks of being there we finally did get hospice for her but the facility staff did not want to communicate with the hospice staff. Our mother was in pain and it took quite a bit of encouragement for them to administer her pain medication to her. This facility emphasized that the care given to the residents was a one on one top quality care but with our grandmother it was not carried out in quality of care at all it was the complete opposite, they kept her sedated to the point of her sleeping around the clock and her condition rapidly declined and when the family would try to ask questions they would say we were difficult to work with because we wanted to know detail about her care. Our friend recently needed to move here. While we were there, the nurse came in and brought her evening pills. We asked if we would be able to take her on a walk, and they showed concern that she would miss dinner. Our friend stated that even if this wasn't home, it was a peaceful place to be.
My Aunt was here for 6 months. She suffered from dementia and had been through a rough year before this. Everyone here treated her with such friendliness, kindness and compassion. She was content here, and I knew she was receiving great care and attention.
