HORRIBLE experience! I had an appointment scheduled two weeks in advance and sent all my information via email. The evening before, I received an email from Jelly at 5:00 PM saying they hadn’t received anything. I resent everything immediately. The next morning, just an hour before my appointment, I asked if they had my paperwork. At 8:58 AM, I got an email giving me until 9:00 AM to submit it, or I’d be rescheduled. This law office solicited me through ARAG for a case I needed help with. We scheduled a consultation for which I blocked off time from work, only to get an email 20 minutes before saying they cancelled it. No explanation, nothing, and then they disappeared. The secretary (or assistant) was pretty rude when I spoke to her on the phone a few times.
Erika was super helpful. In a one-hour consultation billed at a very reasonable rate, she provided us with specific laws relevant to our tenant/landlord situation, clearly outlined how NC Small Claims Court works, advised us that we had a potentially strong case that might even move the magistrate to award trebling of damages, added that we had grounds for filing a complaint with the NC Consumer Protection Division, and provided seasoned advice on how to approach pre-court negotiations. Thank you Erika! She helped me -WIN- against a property management company which in the Purple state of NC where the laws favor landlords; is not easy to do. Do your homework, collect as much intel as you can. KNOW what you are getting into before you get trapped in a 12 month hell hole lease. Erika helped me out tremendously- I don't have a bag of money laying around to hand over to laywers and courts.
