The owner is fabulous! She was so helpful and guided me in choosing beautiful fabric for a quilt. Not only that, I had to return a few times with questions, and all the staff where very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Connie, who helps with quilting (on the long arm), was amazing too. The Fig Leaf allows you to rent their machine at a very good rate, but Connie is there helping the whole time. My quilt turned out beautiful!
I have been to The Fig Leaf on numerous occasions and have never encountered the poor customer service as described by others. I have had my machines in for repair/cleaning. I have also looked at purchasing machines. I have had great service from Rob the sewing machine tech and from sales staff. The only negative comment is the cost of fabric is beyond my means, but this only speaks to the fact the store carries quality fabrics. I see some negative reviews about the customer service but I had the opposite experience! I walked in and was immediately greeted. The woman working talked me through all the steps I needed to do to finish my first quilt. She showed me all my batting choices, calculated how much backing fabric I needed, explained different basting options, brainstormed different ways to quilt it. She was super helpful! They have a nice fabric selection and good deals on sale bolts.
I had one of the top 3 least enjoyable customer service experiences I've ever had and two of them were at this shop. I am a relatively new quilter and recently discovered this quilt shop in town that I'd never realized was there before. I was so excited to meet other quilters, maybe learn a few things, and find my community of quilting peoples, but nope!
