I ordered around a pound of Rocky Road candy, and it was delicious. The salesperson was friendly and did not rush me even though it about closing time.
We have been to the Chocolate Tree many, many times of the years and have always enjoyed their chocolate, so much so that I wanted to send some to a close friend for Christmas. When I called to place a order the staff member was very rude. So rude, I actually decided to call back and did so. I asked to speak with a manager and she "stated they were very busy" did not apologize for the rudeness of the prior employee. As someone who has been visiting The Chocolate Tree for 6+ years, it is sad to see how horrific this establishment has become. We stopped in today and the older lady behind the counter made us feel like we were annoying her for being there despite being very friendly with her. We walked up and said “Hi, how are you?” She answered with, “What can I get you?” We again said, “How are you today?” She responded again with “What can I get for you?” Very rude and unwelcoming to say the least. We have been going to the Chocolate Tree in Beaufort for over three decades, since my kids were small (the oldest is forty now). We have always found the products to be top notch, the store well stocked, and the employees helpful in the well staffed store. There were usually two people in the back working in shipments and 2-3 people up front helping customers. My experience today was very different in some ways. Really bummed by our experience here. The lady at the counter was rude and passive aggressive towards my children. I’ve never felt more unwelcome. We’ll just go to Kilwins from now on.
