Our group supports our local art museum in California and, as art enthusiasts, each year we select interesting locations to visit artists in their studios, galleries, and museums. We were very excited to see their studio space and be shown the processes that Laurie and Dan use to make exquisite glass art. They were very welcoming and generous with their time and explanations. We urge others to visit them and purchase something to enjoy forever..
My visit to Laurie Thal's glass studio was my first but I hope not my last! Her rural, treed and shady setting is an oasis for creativity. I saw finished pieces and was given a tour pf the studio by Laurie who lead me step by step through the process. Glass blowing is an ancient craft that one does not take up lightly! The creative dance, blowing, turning and twisting molten glass on the end of a steel rod demands strength, timing and a mature grasp of the medium. Amazing art work!! They had so many different kinds of glass art from bowls, perfume bottles, sculptures, etc… I would highly recommend going to this place if you are interested in the art form.
