On the same day we filed taxes with them, someone used my husband's social security number to file a tax return in another state. A few hours after we had her prepare our taxes, we received a call from her stating our e-file was rejected because of fraud. We called the IRS fraud department to follow up and they stated on this date (xx/xx/2024) someone used my husband's social security number to file a tax return in another state.
