Make a difference while shopping! Ten Thousand Villages provides fair income to Third World people mostly women -- by selling their handcrafted merchandise in the U.S. The items (all very reasonably priced) make wonderful gifts and they do make a difference!. The stores are primarily volunteer-run, to maximize the amount of money that goes directly back to the artists and craftspeople in the Third World.

Et Cetera Shop This is a unique store with merchandize from other countries. I thought it was a little pricey but it goes to a good cause. You can find very unique items here. The store is downtown and parking is not usually a problem. The associates were so busy putting out merchandise and learning something new at the register it took a while for someone to ask if I needed help. When they did ask, they answered all my questions and tried to help me find what I wanted. Would recommend.

Great place for unique gifts This store is a fun place to get a one of a kind gift. I have been in several times and enjoyed looking at all the neat things and reading the stories about how many of the items are created. The problem I have is that I rarely find anything I would want for myself. I do like to buy christmas items here such as ornaments and garland because they are so colorful and festive. But since the items are in limited quantities/colors, I rarely find something that I like and would use/want in my home that... read more

African Style man! This is a great african-inspired shop with a very large selection of wooden drums, flutes, chairs, tables, toys, kites, beads, ect. I like the people that work there a lot. Most of them are good people that live around the area. The prices are quite high though. Over all I would recomend this to anyone.

Exotic gifts Ten Thousand Villages sells handcrafts made by Third World artisans and pays them fairly for their work. This makes the items more expensive, but allows you to buy things with a clearer social conscience. Some of the items are not as good of quality, but there are some excellent gifts to be found, including some very beautiful and reasonable jewelry. The store also carries a full line of the Putumayo world music CDs, and offers excellent free coffee to people browsing. They carry items such as handbags, scarves,... read more

A really neat, unique place!! This is such a neat place to shop for one of a kind and unique hand made pieces that you just don't see anywhere else. They offer things from around the world, and the prices really make you look twice. But if you see something that catches your fancy here, you may want to grab it now- they may only have 1 or 2. At these prices, you can't afford to NOT grab the things that catch your eye!!
