Eddie, the branch manager, should understand that he is there to think and make informed decisions instead of saying what a machine would say. When a cheque is payable to somebody, a full name including the last name will be written. If anything, all banks place hold for days for cheques to verify with the vendor, and the names will be verified then as well. Instead of asking your customer of 25+ years to go get a new cheque (which would take days), accept the cheque, place a hold, and have your compliance team to reach out ... read more
