I also think it is ridiculous that they "steal" the account holder's money when they write out a check, gift or otherwise. Grandma's take notice: your $20 birthday check was $13 for your grandson, $ 7 for the bank. I guess that's your check cashing fee.
I went to the drive-up window to cash a check that was given to me as a gift. The young lady behind the window (very nice person) informed my that even though the check was from an account holder and that the check was from their account at TD Bank that since I did not have an account at TD Bank that there would be a $7.00 (that's right, seven dollars) fee if I wanted to cash the check. This is the best bank ever! All the people there are a credit to the bank. Everyone is always in a good mood and so friendly. I highly recommend this bank to everyone!
