I went in with a western medicine diagnosis of “atypical migraine syndrome” which is what the neurologist called it when she couldn’t really figure out why my head had been hurting for 6 weeks. I had never had a migraine before. The neurologist had prescribed all these medicines include a horror called Topamax which made me feel stoned (and didn’t relieve the pain!)
