Bought the DESKTOP version since I don't have a persistent internet connection with 1 state filing ($139.99). Found out the Desktop version that's supposed to run on the desktop and not require an Internet connection, still requires an internet connection and will not let you sign in to the Desktop version Unless you're logged in to the Online TaxAct account, which totally defeats the purpose and will NOT work for desktops not connected to the Internet. rude customer service, would not properly explain a fee that was taken from the refund and kept telling me to call republic bank with which i have no affiliation or business with. Switching to turbo tax from next year.
I wish I had read these reviews before using TaxAct... Their $100K Accuracy Guarantee is a total lie. I was audited after using their software and they refused to pay as promised in their "Guarantee". And what kind of recourse does a consumer have at this point? Avoid this company at all costs. UPDATE: Interesting that they would respond to my review about their lie of an Accuracy Guarantee with another lie in their response (they never emailed me). I guess they are consistent, at least.

Consumers deserve transparency and respect for their privacy.
