I picked up tamales at the Buda Farmers Market today, and unfortunately, they were a big disappointment. I went specifically looking forward to enjoying a good tamale, but what I got was almost entirely masa with barely any filling. It felt dense, dry, and lacked the balance and flavor you expect from a well-made tamale. Given how excited I was to try them, this was really frustrating. I hope the vendor improves the filling-to-masa ratio and overall quality, because right now I wouldn’t go back for another.

These are massive tamales… with way more masa than there should be. At almost $6 each, I’m Completely dumbfounded that people are recommending and praising the flavor and quality. Not the worst but very far from the best. Honestly, Tamales from HEB are better.

The tamales are good, but they always put the wrong labels on them. Every time I buy from them, I end up opening a few tamales and realizing they’re not the ones the label said.

I’ve had two disappointing experiences at this establishment at Mueller airport. There is a Hispanic lady who is the primary person interfacing with the customers. With such an incredibly bad attitude, I’m not sure why she’s even working there. Find a different job. Specifically, I bought over a dozen tamales to go, and when I asked for some of the sauce on the side, she admonished me and told me that that was only for clients ordering hot tamales to eat now.
