I'm an undergraduate flute student and this past summer, I was in Wooster for a job. In order to continue my flute studies, I started looking for a flute teacher and I absolutely could not have lucked out more. Susan is an excellent teacher who helped to bring a fresh perspective to the concerto and orchestral excerpts that I had been working on since the previous semester. I finished the summer with 4 more of the big flute orchestral excerpts under my belt and over half of my concerto memorized!
She did very well with my daughter. Talented, flexible and understands young learners. My daughter can be very nervous around new people, but she was always ready to go to her flute lesson.
Mrs. Shaw is excellent and we highly recommend her! She is a very talented flutist and a wonderful teacher. We are so glad our daughter takes lessons and her musical ability has improved immensely. Mrs. Shaw challenges and motivates our child to do her best. She engages our daughter by providing familiar and fun songs. She is passionate about the flute and passes this enthusiasm to her students.
Susan has been instructing my daughter for 18 months. In this time I have seen my daughter's skills increase dramatically and her love of the flute deepen. Susan is caring and patient. We are so lucky we found her! Highly recommended.
After almost 15 years I decided to return to my instrument and Susan is helping a lot to return and improve my skills. From sound quality, technique, posture and breathing she has been patiently correcting me and taking me up to speed again. As you talk and hear Susan becomes clear her competency and quality that she easily transmit to your students with no pressure and very nicely, always respecting your limitations and providing guidance to the next step. I am so glad that I found someone like Susan to teach me!
