Initially we rented Bertha and Bri/Connor had an opening and they offered the more spacious Shirley — we were off to a good start Also Bri was always so attentive to every question I posed and gave us a couple recommendations (they actually crafted a map with recs, spots and more) The trip went great, the appliances were easy to work and made our Big Island experience memorable If you’re thinking of visiting the island a van is probably one of the smartest ideas
After 30+ days and over 1k miles in the S.S. Laverne, I have nothing but great things to say about my little island home away from home! The van was beyond cozy with all the creature comforts I needed. Initially, I was nervous having never driven anything so high profile before, but it took no time to get used to (now being back in my Jeep, I feel I'm sitting too low, haha). **Summer 2026 After booking Laverne I got a message letting me know that the airbagswere singedin a grease fire, that they might not be working, and needed to be replaced. They asked me to sign a waiver, which I was not comfy with. I was friendly and flexible, agreeingto switch to Shirley even though I was disappointed. It's a red flag to me that they're still renting out a vehicle with compromised airbags asking people to sign waivers outside the platform. Listed check intime is 11 AM.
