Since the new management took over, I should say that Summerwood community has improved a lot - over all service, organization, professionalism and communication. The care team is very responsive to inquiry, professional and they work really hard to making a commitment in positive changes and most of all they advocate for the residents. Great place and professional management and staff, highly recommended!
If there is any other place that you can put your loved one then I suggest you do. This place is an accident waiting to happen for the elderly. I’m not sure if their staff are just undertrained but my mother had numerous things happen to her while under their care but the biggest thing was safety for me. They do have regular staff that see your loved one daily but the problem is the staff just don’t care. My mother was calling me to help her. My mother just left summerwood and thank god. In the 2 years she was there I saw nothing but poor untrained staff that put my mother at risk numerous times. From trying to insist certain meds were hers when my mother knew better and wouldn’t take them. When I showed up the meds were for a completely different resident. That alone could have killed her. This facility doesn't take care of the people who are in there. No outside time, what is going on?? Is ii a funding issue? I'm thinking that you really don't care!!
