Back in the day. Hey! – I remember going to Studio 35 with my brother, an art student at the time. I was about 11 years old, it was around 1972. They screened an all night Marx Brothers festival, something like five films. By the beginnig of the third film we had both fallen fast asleep in our chairs. Used to be a fairly good revival theatre back in the day, these days just a relic from the past showing mainstream films.

Great venue, but... – I love this theatre but for one important issue ? the sound quality. It is so poor that you can?t understand any of the dialogue (especially if it is an action movie with loud effects). Also, it is in serious need of remodeling. Some of the seating is newer, but the walls are covered with old, moldy murals and falling plaster. Go for the pizza and beer, but not the movies.

Business response:

I used to agree with your thoughts on the sound quality completely, but they've improved the audio considerably within the last year or so.

Great Neighborhood Theater---Cheap! – This is such a great theater that has wonderful character. The price is less than the big chain theaters and you can order food and sit at a table or at the bar while you watch the movie! Check it out!

It opened in 1938 as the Indianola Theater and is one of only three theaters remaining from those days. In 1995, the theater passed from longtime owner Frank Marzetti, who screened second-run films, to current owner John Conti. The Films Conti soon dropped the second-run programming for almost-new releases. This year, he's paired recen... read more

Long Live the Studio – Studio 35 is a truly great movie theater -- from the kitsch collage on the women's room walls to the slices served in the back, it can't be beat. The double features are pure genius, and the vibe makes you wish every place you went could achieve the same genius retro level. Please, don't ever close.
