I ordered a bbq for pick up in store. Did a major detour to get there only to find out they ordered the wrong one. Store is hard to find which is a good thing. Not my first bad experience with Steveston. The only reason you still are in business is because West Marine has left Canada. Juts buy somewhere else.
I phoned this store as the number is listed as the Richmond store, which was on google showing that the location was “open”. We drove to the Richmond location and when we arrived it looked completely abandoned. So I phoned and I (kindly) asked how we can get in and the man on the phone told me they have not been open for 6 months. However when I informed him that it was still showing open on google he snapped back at me and said “well I’m not the owner of google, am I?”… Yes okay, fair. I stopped in to pick up a few items but when I tried to check out the reader wouldn’t recognize my chip card. My card has a low tap limit and can’t run larger purchases as tap. The staff was quite unhelpful and even rude. The only saving grace was the great Lebanese restaurant next door. I have heard rumors about the poor customer service at Steveston Marine. We had a fantastic visit! Canadian tire wouldn’t put a line on my kids fishing rod so I called over to this awesome shop where I used to come with my dad and the gentleman and his son or coworker were amazing. They put the line on the rod for my kid. They chatted with us about the upcoming fishing season and they motivated my son to keep fishing. Easy parking, well stocked store that had exactly what I needed. Friendly staff, easy to checkout. Everything was really great.
