I called Steve Smith’s law firm and was appointed with Walter Foster for a simple eviction case which he charged me a $5,000 retainer and knew he’d have to travel to Knox County court house, a 45-60 minute drive. Walter and I never met before the case and only had one 15 minute consultation. Walter said he was charging me $400/hr and $270/hr for his paralegal at the time, Zoey. Steve overbilled and was not helpful at all. We accomplished nothing. He met with me while he was in a mediation with another attorney and kept telling me stories about how he shot this cat in front of his church and a SWAT team came to his house and how he was angry at the SWAT team leader and just basically told me tons of stories and didn't help me with my case at all. Horrible company
Steve's attitude and treatment could have been better. I can see he would be a great trial lawyer, but don't treat your client like that. Fee's were 8K. I cancelled the case with Steve's firm to humble him. Had a great additional discovery in my case, handled it myself, and I made one phone call and my case with DHHS was overturned, rightfully so. I had a wonderful experience with Steve Smith and his team in helping me with my divorce process.
