The place has a DOC monopoly for court mandated drug abuse evaluation and recommended treatment. EVERYBODY “needs” treatment. Surprise! Go against a “recommendation” is a Violation of Probation (VOP), which is potentially VERY SERIOUS! So the students or patients are there by court order, and if they don’t comply with whatever STEPs “recommends” they will VOP which LITERALLY could result in jail time or PRISON!! playing a video on the effects of meth to a group of recovering addicts that ACTIVELY SHOWED A MAN PACKING, ROLLING LIGHTING AND SMOKING A BUBBLE PIPE when there are hundreds to thousands of videos on YouTube with the exact same information provided that don’t show active drug use in a group. Announcing though that I may need to personally look away to the group based off of stuff discussed in individual sessions was wildly inappropriate though, especially when you get the DOC wrong and you took notes.
Obviously a money grab and very unprofessional service, Counselors are kind..
