Horrible look to have the agency supported by tax dollars in charge of taking your money be so incompetent and unhelpful. 99% of the time you call (after going through numerous annoying phone prompts) it just says 'high call volume can't take your call' and disconnects. Where are all our tax dollars going? Last year, my refund did not go through because the agency couldn't 'find' my state income withholding because they didn't scroll to the second page of my W2. Never lived here. Never had anything to do with California. Yet somehow these people are here to "help" me. This help is in the form of thousands of dollars in delinquent taxes, interest, fees, etc. I am still dumbfounded in the complete lack of common sense in anyone having anything to do with the government in California. I don't live there, never have either-yet for some reason I have to pay taxes there. Wild.
Every time I call they say high volume calls then I made an account now they are saying I can't log into my account for 10 days I think I'm going to have to take trip to see them because this is ridiculous.
The first time I’m getting a refund from California, and of course they want me to send in all 75 pages of the documents I used to file, just to check for identity theft.
The FTB makes the DMV look like a five star experience. There are no curses foul enough to describe how awful of an experience it is to have to deal with the CA FTB as a business. Having to wade through a labyrinth of menus and pre-recorded messages only to finally be able to select the option to speak with a representative and you get a "We're experiencing higher than usual call volume and we cannot connect your call at this time."
