Alice, that is tough to believe, because the bank hasn’t done consumer mortgages for over 7 years. I know because I just asked them if they did them. They referred me to a couple of other banks that do them.
When I’ve been in the bank, everyone was friendly but consumers beware. Reviewing a client’s documentation for mortgages, discovered that the bait his banker “friend” used to “lower your monthly payment” was actually extending the length of the loan, while also rolling in their fees (<$2k) & slightly raising the interest rate. So in the long run, the client would pay more interest and for a longer timeframe (an extra 5 years).
