Penny E. review for Spooner Physical Therapy

My mom broke her hip and we went to Spooner for her physical therapy. FIRST, let me say her therapists, Nicole and Mark, and all the others in the therapy room were terrific. The problem comes from the front office. Long and short is we were told told, not once, but twice, there would be no charge. Medicare and her supplemental would pick it up. Mom is 91 and on a limited income. After two months, she got a bill for $203. When I called billing, it was explained part of it was her Part B deductible. The rest was....20% her supplemental didn't pick up. Mom decided to stop going. A month later we get another bill for $219. I called billing again. She said, that's still 20% from other visits. When I explained YOUR people said there would be no charge, she said, "Call Spooner's office, as they shouldn't have said that." That went back and forth. I called mom's supplemental and the guy explained it, crystal clear. Mom owed the money. My point is, she wouldn't have gone to therapy as long as she did, if she knew the 20 % would be charged. So I called again and spoke to a Karen. I explained, we laymen figure you know what you're talking about, so when your office says "no charge", we expect there to be no charge. She said she would call another gal who deals with mom's supplemental coverage and that person, Rhonda, would be calling. I heard nothing. I called a week later and Karen said, "I'll send another message." I asked for Rhonda's number, which she gave me. I left a message for Rhonda, and still nothing. It's too bad the great therapists have to work with people who don't know their jobs, or refuse to call you back! This was the Spooners in Glendale.
