avoid on Fridays or call ahead to see if there are lots of groups booked – We drove out from Minneapolis. The grounds are pretty and the horses are beautiful. However, the bakery is expensive. My boys did enjoy the apple doughnuts. We intended to pick apples and waited in line for at least 20 minutes. There were 2 other family groups ahead of us and a pre-school group behind us. Grease doughnuts – My family lives in the city and it was quite a drive out to Minnesota Harvest. We thought it would be worth the trek. It was not. We bought our bag of Honeycrisp apples. We might as well have gone to the grocery store because you can't pick that kind from the trees. Thought the doughnuts and bakery goods would be wonderful but to our dismay, it was like eating a doughnut full of grease, literally. We bought a dozen and threw out 11. Just off County Road 66 sits a bounty of foliage, fruits and fun. – In Short Sponsel's Minnesota Harvest is big and friendly, with plenty of nooks and crannies for getting lost. The orchard's 45 different types of apples are available for "U-pick" on the expansive grounds. Bluegrass aficionados come to hear some of the area's best musicians. A large pumpkin patch sits on the lower part of the farm and draws a autumn crowd for barbecue, face-painting, a petting zoo and a corn maze.
