I was on Credit Karma’s app and this lender appeared in my feed. I submitted my application and it’s been a week and the loan is still going through underwriting. 2-3 days is a lie. When I called to ask the status a week later, the rep mentioned that they would need to call me to verify additional information. This is not new to me as I have a fraud alert on my credit reports. I applied to refinance my student loans for a lower interest rate because I heard the advertisement on Dave Ramsey's podcast for Splash Financial. I thought it was a good opportunity as I am trying to pay off all my student loans as soon as possible to be debt free. I have been paying on my student loans (even paid one off) during this pandemic forgiveness of not having to pay anything and with no interest rate. I started my student loan refinancing through Splash at the end of April. Through few difficulties here and there, it finalized some time in June. During this time, I was informed about ********* ******* ****** which is a separate financial entity that Splash is involved with in order to provide their interest rate. I applied for private student loan refinancing at least two months ago. They still have not fixed the IT issues on my application. Communication from the company has been absent. This is not acceptable and seriously concerns me about them managing anything of mine.

I have been trapped in a nightmare attempting to refi a loan with them for 3 months. So many technical issues we can’t get off the ground. They’ve asked for the same documents multiple times. Does not inspire confidence and I fear them managing my money at this point. No idea if they’ll even honor the rate they gave me 3 months ago. FWIW, I have excellent credit and income and am refinancing 300k. I’ve done numerous Refis and mortgages and never had such issues. Infuriating.

Beware. Got an estimate for student loan refinancing. Rate was at 3.87 for 15 years. I have a screen shot of the loan. I was then redirected to ***********who would be honoring the refinancing. When it was time to sign the final application they only gave me a rate of 4.00% for 10 years. Not terrible, but not what my initial quote was. Bait and switch. I called **** about it and they said I wasn't the first case that had occurred when going through Splash financial. Very frustrating.

The lender (in this instance, U-Fi) conducts a hard credit pull when the application is submitted to them. As a result, sometimes the soft pull and hard pull can be slightly different – causing a rate to change.
