I had two credit cards with them. I was late one one of the credit cards due to unforeseen circumstances, so I let them know I couldn't make my payment on time. They shut both of my card off with no warning or explanation. I didn't know for a while because I wasn't using either of my cards at the time. I went to use the card that I paid late--and it didn't work. In complete opposition to our mutually signed agreement, Spirit of Alaska Federal Credit Union withdrew my mortgage payment on the 24th of the February instead of on the 27th leaving my account overdrawn. In a ridiculous attempt to defend this breach of contract, staff stated that "electronic payments have to be made 5 days prior to the first of the month and that February is a short month" even though (a) there is a 15 day grace period from the 1st to the 15th and (b)by their own admission, no mention of this egregious prac... read more
