Gary Waid is an excellent instructor. I took the Advanced Open Water certification under his tutelage. The training took place at Lake Phoenix in Rawlings, Virginia. It was a great place to experience a cold thermocline and diving in low visibility. I would highly recommend Southern Maryland Divers and their instructor Gary Waid.
Great group of people! I got certified 6 years ago and came back in July 2025 and took a 2 hour refresher course. Some of the same people were still instructing. Andy, Paul, and Dan were great and the refresher course covered the basics and then allowed us to practice skills that I would need for my future dives.
Very good dive shop!
