I have been hiking the trails at South Slough for almost 30 years. It is one of the few places where I can spend 4 or 5 hours completely alone with Mother Nature and her amazing creatures. The trails are what draw me to South Slough, but the interpretive/visitor center is a definite stop for me as well. There is always something unique and interesting going on there. Things have changed over the years, always for the better, and I keep returning to enjoy the solitude and breathtaking beauty of this serene place.

Today my wife and I attended the mushroom class. It was a whole lot of fun. Learned a bunch, and brought home a few things to sauté later tonight. Thank you all for doing such a great job. See you next time !

This is a really cool place. The visitor center is really nice with fantastic and informative displays. They also have a nice gift shop with books and other items. We enjoyed walking the trails and we were delighted to see a few snowy egrets. The one huge negative during our visit was the constant sound of target shooting from some nearby property. It lasted during our entire visit and made us feel like we were in a war zone.
