Not long ago my wife and I witnessed the meat manager belittle and verbally abuse an Asian couple for something the person behind the counter allowed him to do. He apologized multiple times but she kept at him over and over, raising her voice and making a scene. My wife and I both agreed that that was the worst we’ve ever seen a customer treated by an employee in our 30 years of working retail. I usually enjoy shopping at this Sobeys, as it’s one of the nicer grocery stores in Brandon and the pricing reflects the quality and overall experience. I’m happy to pay a premium for a clean, comfortable environment. I fully sympathize with individuals experiencing housing insecurity, especially given the challenging weather conditions. That said, having people spending extended time at the store entrance, consuming food, and leaving messes does detract from the shopping experience.
