WE RECOMMEND NOT USING SMOOTH MOVERS. IT IS A PROFESSIONAL SCAM. THEY GET YOU TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT AND THEN HIKE UP THE COST WHEN IT COMES TO THE ACTUAL AGREEMENT. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD 10 FEET OF SPACE IN THE TRUCK, BUT THEY CHANGED IT TO 3 FEET. THE PRICE WENT FROM $1750 TO OVER $5000. THE INITIAL $750 IS DELIBERATELY NON-REFUNDABLE.
I was given a verbal quote. Was told it would take a deposit of $3250 to secure the price , I said I wanted to look at other bids and would get them as I had time and have a lot on my plate at this time. He said that the rates were going to get jacked up and I needed to secure the quote. I stood my ground. He replied "Go Fuck yourself you dumb bitch." Then hung up. This attitude is not what I want to deal with and I am scratching them off the list of possibilities.
