A lovely property in a secluded location. Ideal for a break in rural Wales
We had a lovely stay for three nights at The Smithy! It's great to come back to comfortable rooms and a warm relaxing fireplace after long walks exploring mid-Wales. The cottage was renovated recently and we got to see pictures of its history and how it has retained its charm. Phillip was also a great host with good communication throughout, and recommended us walks and places to see.
What an amazing house! The facilities are very clean and high quality, the wood burner is well stocked, and the location is perfect! There are so many amazing walks in the area, and being surrounded by beautiful green fields is perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the bustle of the city. Moreover, the owner is absolutely lovely and very helpful in restocking the firewood and suggestions on places to visit. The chickens in the garden are also very cute!! We stayed for a week to explore mid-Wales. The sheep and chickens were our only neighbours and the cottage is only a few minutes drive to the main A470 road. The local town of Llanidloes is well serviced with shops and eateries and served as a good base. The cottage was homely and full of period features - it's a shame we visited in June as the weather was too pleasant to use the fire.
