I came in to get my monthly Smart Start ignition interlock calibration. Business as usual . A few days later, I notice my bank account was lower than it should have been. So I pulled my bank statement. I was charged $283.45. I dropped by Stereo West and asked what my monthly calibration fee was. This company is complete trash. I have been with them for about 10 years. The first maybe 7 years everything was fine. The past 2-3 years everything has gone completely down hill. Their customer service is complete garbage. You have to hold for about 30 minutes to get a person on the line and they hire out people in other countries that have no idea what is going on and just read prompts from the computer screen in front of them related to your problem. Update: Randomly closed again on day of appointment. More junk fees added & entirely new category of fine which went thoroughly unexplained. Update: They raised rates AGAIN without informing anyone. Now it is $107 a month for complete shit service. I sit there for an hour. They won’t give codes to mechanics so that’s an automatic $80 and probably it’s even more now. DO NOT GO HERE. ! Smartstart is not the best interlock company to go with and I would not recommend using them. Have had them for 13 years and they've will only waive one charge even if it's their issue. I went for a miss blow which is a $75 charge, I told the kid that and my bank was still charged over $120 for a calibration which i did not need. They tell you to contact smartstart for reimbursement but Goodluck ever getting your money back or even getting a smartatart rep on the phone.
