Hello - We are Silicon Valley Clean Energy, the not-for-profit, local electricity provider that serves ******************* ******************. This customer is reporting an experience that they had with Valley Clean Energy, which is the local community choice energy provider that serves ***** and much of ***********. It's a scam. Green energy is not less expensive. It costs more. Thats a fact! My advice, opt out.

Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is a local government agency providing clean energy and competitive rates. SVCE is a Joint Powers Authority governed by the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and unincorporated Santa Clara County. SVCE is responsible for electric generation, meaning the agency procures electricity for customers, and PG&E maintains transmission and delivery, and gas service. SVCE's 2023 rates a... read more
I was automatically enrolled in this program through PG&E. Assuming their advertising is true and participating in SVCE is actually better for the planet, I'm OK with an automatic enrollment - if they were clear and honest about it. I didn't notice the extra charge on my bill. But I received a mailer on day 60 explaining the program - and that there's no fee to opt out within 60 days after your service starts. Please consider sending the welcome mailer within the first couple weeks of service, enough time for a customer to r... read more

Thank you for your feedback. Silicon Valley Clean Energy is a not-for-profit, community choice energy agency, which serves customers in 13 Santa Clara County communities. As a community choice energy agency, we are the official, default electric generation provider for our service area, as designated by the local governments that formed our public agency and we operate as an opt-out program, per state law. Customers receive cleaner energy at competitive rates with Silicon Valley Clean Energy. We have reduced electricity-rela... read more
Seems to be a scam. I didn't sign up for this, I was "automatically" signed up for it. It's just an additional $15 charge on my bill, for nothing. There's no explanation of what this fee does. Furthermore, electricity is a completely fungible commodity. If they are able to produce electricity more cheaply with solar or wind or whatever, fine - if they can't, that's an indication that more energy is put into the system to produce energy than they get out of the system. Reminds me of ethanol - which is more expensive because i... read more
