Just returned from Eagles trip in Homer Alaska ( March 2-6 2026 ). We lost 2 days of shooting due a winter storm, but otherwise a great trip. Great birds in flight experience. I drove down from Anchorage; the roads were good, except for a small section around Cooper. Very scenic drive, but car rentals are expensive in Alaska. The hotel is nice with a kitchenette and a grocery store across the street. The boat, boat caption, and deckhand are great and accommodating. We feed the eagles with fish. Matt's experience shined through on our grizzly bear trip; he was very meticulous preparing. He also gave pointers in the field that were helpful, but not overbearing. Furthermore, the "little" experiences between field sessions were the icing on the cake- we had great lodging, delicious food, and friendly socializing. Lastly, was impressed with Matt's pervasive familiarity with tools and camera brands. However, he is able to translate this theory to stellar compositions. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go to the Galapagos with Matt. It was a fantastic experience. Matt is an exceptional guide! The tour was fantastic. everyday was wonderful and full of surprises. His guide was the best! I HIGHLY recommend Shetzerphotography!
