I entered the wedding photography search with 2 things in mind: (1) I hate looking at posed pictures almost as much as I hate taking them and (2) if I’m going to have to pay for wedding pictures, they better epic. Like probably a lot of soon-to-be-husbands, I didn't think it mattered too much who we picked to be our photographer. It sounds bad to admit, but to be fair, most wedding photos look the exact same. Staged, generic, and borderline uncomfortable. Shane proved that assumption to be completely wrong. I do not recommend Shane for portraits. Our experience may have been a fluke—given the great reviews and portfolio. But if so, I recommend setting clear expectations for direction and communication. Shane took portraits of my family and we were deeply disappointed with the process and results. The photos were stiff and unflattering. Shane is an incredibly talented photographer and was wonderful to work with throughout our wedding process. He was organized, communicative, and engaged throughout the planning process and he made our day even more special by being a calming, kind, and fun presence throughout the reception.
