My husband and I went snorkeling with Sea Dwellers Dive Center for our anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience! We had hoped to see the Christ of the Abyss statue, but didn’t realize it’s only visited on certain days—so be sure to call ahead if that’s on your list. This was an absolutely amazing trip out. The crew was beyond amazing. We had Russell as a captain, Roger as 1st mate and Leslie and Tony were the scuba guides. They made this such a fun trip. They were extremely approachable, if we had questions they never made us feel like we were bothering them. They laughed and joked with us. Tony gave us the best suggestion for dinner after. I felt that the training environment did not adequately support first-time divers. It seemed that the instructors assumed all participants were already professionals, which left little room for guidance and support for beginners like myself. Additionally, I found the behavior of our instructor named Tony, to be extremely unhelpful. He appeared uninterested in our progress and kept dismissing our concerns by suggesting we go back to the boat. I had a very disappointing experience as a first-time scuba diver. We took the Discover Scuba Diving course which was supposed to be tailored for first time divers. The instructions provided were not very helpful at all, and I felt completely unprepared. The instructor, Tony seemed uninterested in teaching beginners like myself and instead focused on those who already knew how to dive. Throughout the session, I didn’t feel supported or encouraged. My dad and I got our emergency first response and rescue diving certificate here and our experience was awesome. Our instructor was Chad and even though the course was a lot of work his professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm made the experience very fun and rewarding. We highly recommend him and this dive center to earn certification! We also went out on 2 open water dives as part of the rescue course and the boat was very well-equipped and the staff was very helpful and pleasant.
