Dealt with this bank for the first (and last time) this week. Our mortgage is with Scotiabank and I had gone in to this branch to let them know I needed to update my bank details for the upcoming payment. I was told it was too late because Scotia requests the funds 4-5 days prior to it coming out. Was advised to come in with cash on Thursday, July 2nd morning (as obviously July 1 is Canada Day). WTH… doors are locked at 7pm for inside ATM. So I go to the drive thru, which is the worst height ever and try to deposit cash and it spits the money back out and says I can’t deposit?!?!
I was never a fan of Scotiabank back in the day, but I've been blown away by how great they are to deal with lately. The customer service at the Cochrane branch is second to none. Friendly, long term tellers that really know what they are doing, and usually shorter lines than other banks because they seem to staff more heavily. I didn't intend to but over the last year I've moved 90% of my banking to Scotia piece by piece. Great customer service, but building should be updated for convenience. Went to deposit money (kind of important for timing) and the drive thru machine wasn't accepting deposits, and the doors are locked without card access (other Scotiabanks I've dealt with had access to the indoor ATMs using the debit card to get through the locked doors) not very happy with the situation..
