Schwartz Candies was founded in 1939 by Al Schwartz. He purchased an already established business, which was not only a candy shop, but a restaurant as well. The store, originally located at 127 West 72nd Street in Manhattan ( between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues ), found a permanent home at 131 West 72nd Street in the mid-1940's. Very friendly and accommodating service. They didn't have exactly what I wanted pre-ackaged, so they made it up customized for me on the spot. I bought dark chocolates for my wife for Valentine's day, 'cause that's all she really likes. I don't really care for dark chocolate, but after tasting these, I thought they were absolutely delicious. I'm glad I found this place close to home. I'll definitely be back.
What an ADORABLE candy shop! Kinda hidden and parking can be a challenge. What brought me here was they now stock vegan candy!! It’s a small selection, but all grouped together. They had caramels, jelly beans, m&m equivalents, and other European chocolate bars. The gentleman I spoke with was wonderful, I really enjoyed being in there.
Only place I can find nearby that had caramel apples right now and IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY so fresh delicious caramel 10/10 will be back!
