I reviewed him once before but it seems to have disappeared. I had an apt with another doctor but she was sick so I went with the one they had available. It was him. He completely dismissed a major symptom I had. I do not recommend this doctor. Go to someone that listens to his patients.
Dr. Schaefer seems angry. He was inappropriate with me on two occasions. He is the classic example of a doctor who probably knows his craft but is beyond horrible at executing it. He embarrassed me twice, once in private, asking me when I requested an STD exam if I’d engaged in a certain (safe) act, and another time in his practice’s waiting room. I am so offended by him that I will be reporting him to the local medical board.
I had an extremely uncomfortable and disheartening experience. Dr. Schaefer's demeanor during our interaction was deeply troubling. He displayed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism, coming across as a narcissist with a god complex, speaking to his patients as if they were beneath him. I, a Hispanic woman, was made to feel less than, talked down to and had my medical concerns dismissed. No one, regardless of their background, should be subjected to such treatment from a medical professional.
Ran a bunch of unnecessary lab tests without my permission for just a yearly checkup. Refused to let me go to the lab myself and insisted on doing it in his office. This resulted in hundreds of dollars of not insurance covered bills, and I am lucky enough to have very good insurance. I verified with 2 other doctors the tests were highly unnecessary as I'm a 28 year old with no history of any medical issues at all. Also just not a very friendly doctor.
He orders unnecessary tests not covered by insurance for my annual check-up. Then he never followed up with my results. I had to go through all the tests myself. Ridiculous.
