This is a really good store. This place was actually the old Best Way Store that used to be here, but it went out of business years ago. I still to this day remember how old it looked inside of the old Best Way, and I was little at the time. Anyways, what's here now is Save-Way. Save-Way used to be over in South Carthage, but for some reason moved here. The owner is Todd (his last name may be Scurlock, but I'm not sure), and he has really fixed up the old Best Way. Love shopping here, went today and bought a lot of meats, great deals. 6/ 8/25. Update: 9-25-25 went back today and got a lot more good deals...
This store has a nice small-town vibe — people are friendly and it doesn’t feel rushed. That said, I had a checkout experience that left me concerned. The cashier scanned and bagged most of my items but left my bacon sitting on the counter until the very end, then bagged it with dry goods like canned food and syrup instead of with other cold items. It might have been an oversight, but most cashiers know to bag meat separately or at least with other cold items. It felt intentional or careless, and I hope it’s just a one-off. ... read more
