Whoever works in the planning and zoning department, is extremely rude, they need to check themselves, it’s ridiculous
The super long phone wait for someone to answer is really ludicrous. Property owners pay hefty amount of taxes, but the assesors office can't hire more than one employees to handle tax papers calls?
My 2024 tax bill prior to protest is increasing in ONE SINGLE YEAR from $17.72 to $622.40 for the exact same piece of vacant land that hasn't changed one bit in 47 years. $17.72 was too low and $622.40 is ridiculously high. For what services Sandoval County? We have no fire department or police up there. The government has lost its mind!
They just raised my property tax on 3/4 acres of vacant land in Placitas by 61%. Apparently my land is now worth $53k more than it was yesterday. Residential tax rates are capped at 3% a year in NM, but they told me land has no cap at all. Local government is out of control here. Take a look at their website, they literally have an ad saying that if you are tired of paying the property tax, you can “donate” the land to them! Sic Semper Tyrannis
