The staff there are hopeless expect one person who was great, I took my bike in one day and asked them how long it would take to do a service he told me rudely “You can see how busy I am right now mate” but as i walked in he was on his phone, never going back to this place
Top-notch bike shop! I recently moved to Nelson Bay a few weeks ago, and I’m so glad I found this place. The bike mechanic is an absolute legend – super skilled and friendly. I brought in my road bike for a repair, and they had it sorted in no time. The service is top-notch, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers and bikes. After spending a few weeks visiting bikes shops in the Newcastle area looking for a new bike for my son I gave Salamander Cycles a call, Richard couldn’t do enough to help, he wasn’t pushy, listened to what I wanted and come back to me with multiple options, all over the phone as I am not from the area. Once I chose the bike it was ordered and I picked up within the week, great service by Richard.
Initially impressed by stock and customer service. However, two days after purchasing a service tool (chain breaker and yes caution on use was given) I found the tool has broken one of the link tags and took it back in, only to be told 'that happens'. No offer of replacement or even a sympathetic ear. Would have been back to use service facilities and to purchase other items but quite reluctant now.
